Bonded Magnets

Bonded Magnets can be made from a mixture of any type of magnetic powder and a large variety of binders. The molding processes include compression molding, injection molding, extrusion molding and calendaring. Bonded magnets have the advantages of complex shapes, high dimensional accuracy, tight tolerances, no subsequent mechanical processing, the ability to integrate with other functional components, and are suitable for mass production. For process reasons, the compression bonding process is limited to simpler shapes such as rectangles, rings, arcs and cylinders requiring a consistent cross-sectional area along the compression direction, and possibly tooling costs for production and magnetization.
